When it comes to being healthy, there is a growing interest in this country with health and wellness, and there are also quite a few different methods that people will use in order to accomplish these kinds of goals. We all desire to be healthier in our lives so that we are able to live longer than our parents and grandparents did. Part of the way that people are doing this is because there is a whole host of information channels out there that we can use in order to get the information that we need in order to be healthier and to live a lifestyle that is going to be better for us in general.

The most common kinds of channels that are used in order to gain this kind of information is by either using specific kinds of cookbooks, or as most people decide, the internet is one of the biggest sources of information out there for just about anything including cooking. As most of us know, cooking and baking is something that takes a lot time in order to learn, and it is also something that takes a lot of time and effort in order to get right.

One of the desserts out there that most everyone likes to eat, but most people don't think that they are going to be able to make themselves is cheesecake. There are those who think that this kind of desert is too difficult to make, and rather than making it themselves, they decide to buy it from a local bakery instead, or even from the grocery store. What most people don't realize is that they can just as easily make their cheesecake at home on their own. There are different ways that you can determine which desserts are going to be the healthiest. If there is a lot of sugar, then chances are, it is not going to be the healthiest dessert for you to choose for yourself. Also, if there happens to be a lot of butter or fat in the ingredients, this could pose a problem for the people who want to eat it. There are versions of the desserts that are better for those who have to live healthier lifestyles. This is one of the ways that you can actually lose weight and eat the same kinds of things that they would want if they were eating all of the things that we originally would want to if they were eating all of the wrong things.

Regardless of the kind of lifestyle that you decide to lead when it comes to eating, it is important to ensure that you are eating as healthy as you can so that you can ensure that you are doing the best that you can to maintain a healthy body. It is not always easy to avoid all of the things that we are not supposed to eat, but fact that you are able to use different kinds of products within the foods that you are eating to make it healthier is something that can help.

A friend of mine used to work at the school where I work. He was the head custodian. A while back he decided that he wanted to go into business for himself. So he started his own custodial business out of a small warehouse in Brooklyn. He is really good at what he does and gets work from many of the offices downtown. The business has done so well that he has hired quite a few people as custodians, and he has also had to hire an office staff to take care of the business side. He got his phones and internet set up through t1internet.com which is set up in a way that as the business grows he won’t have to get a lot of other technological upgrades to expand. He has talked for a long time about me coming to work for his business. He wants me to run his office. It has grown so much that he needs someone that has experience in running an office that he knows he can trust no matter what. I told him that I would consider his offer and let him know by next week. My feeling is that this will be a great opportunity for me to work in a new environment and get me out of the place I have been stuck in so long.

This Valentine's Day, I told Sweetie that I will send her Dunkin Donuts. The heart-shaped ones with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. She said, it's better than not having anything because last year I totally forgot to get her anything.

But I opted for these chocolate-coated strawberries from Shari's Berries... and she just loved them. I so love the look in her eyes and the smile on her lips after every bite she took.

I am not a romantic guy, I had to admit. Or rather, I have a hard time expressing what I feel. And it's totally opposite with my Sweetie.

Valentine's day is always a struggle for me. I hate flowers but my Sweetie loves it so much. It's hard to explain why I prefer diamond, which is a girl's bff, isn't it? Well, she loves diamond too [who doesn't] but she loves flowers and I hate it because I think is a waste of money because you just throw them out when they already served their purpose.

This year I tried to make amends for my shortcoming last Valentine's day. She said, I was getting very creative this time and I just love the way she smiled.

I love you always, my Sweetie!

True Blood

Thank goodness we got direct star Tv just in time for the start of my favorite television of all time, “True Blood”. I am usually not someone who enjoys science fiction and vampire themed movies and shows. I haven’t seen or read the “Twilight” series or seen the “Harry Potter” movies. I started watching “True Blood” earlier this year when we went to my in-laws house for a long visit. The first season of the series was available on their cable network. By the time we left a week later, my husband and I had watch all of the episodes from season one to season three. “True Blood” incorporates drama, comedy, and vampire action and acts like a drug that leaves you wanting more. The characters are colorful and the plots are intriguing. I also love that it is set in a small bayou town in the heart of Louisiana. The setting has an authentic feel. Not to mention the male cast is composed of very attractive males who are often not wearing their shirts! I can’t wait until the next season starts!

When my husband asked me to look into electric rates in my area ambit energy was the first company I checked with. I had used them in the past and was really happy but low and behold he had a better idea – what he really meant for me to do was sign on with his buddy ted’s company. Now I usually wouldn’t have a problem with that but Ted is known all over town for having unscrupulous business practices and I just didn’t want any part of that. When I told my husband no it literaly turned into the biggest fight we’ve ever had – I couldn’t believe it! At the end of the fight I was accusing him of choosing his friends over me and he was telling me I was all about money…things that weren’t at all what we started arguing about. It began small but some issues came up that apparently we need to address which is why I’ve signed us up for marital counseling. We start Monday and I’m only a little nervous…

It’s like a reality TV/make-over TV shows that we watch on – of course TV. You need to explain why you really desperate to for the Contest Factory to come in and “Pimp” your cube. Then, enter your video for the contest. Once the video is entered, you need to invite friends and family and coworkers to VOTE for your video. That’s it.

So what’s the prize for all the trouble you will get yourself into? You get sweepstakes entry points for registering, voting, commenting and inviting others to register for the contest. Judges of the Contest Factory will choose the most voted, best or shall I say “worst” video and the most compelling story. Approximately $1200 is at stake for this contest which will cost the updating of your cube/office/workplace.

There are three prize packages:

Well, based on what I read no has uploaded a video so it means that our chances of winning are very good if we can do the video. You can use either your smart phone or webcam and upload video to the site to enter.

To Rent or Not to Rent

Last night, my Sweetie was busy browsing on Calgary Apartments online. I wondered why and suspected that she might be cooking up something again this time. Well, apparently, she has a friend who is now based in Calgary, Alberta and she is planning to spend her entire summer vacation there. Well, I am not really worried for now since it's way too far ahead. I was thinking it might really be a nice idea to go for a vacation for a change. I just need to google if Alberta has some gold for panning. wink***

But then, renting an apartment for our vacation is a great idea since it will be more convenient for us aside from the fact that the rate is practical and affordable too. We really don't know how long we would be there since she was only browsing for now but knowing my Sweetie, I don't think she only wanted to go for a visit for a week so renting an apartment is the best thing to do. Well, most visitors to RentCalgary.com are people looking to rent a home in Calgary, Alberta. And my Sweetie would surely love to spend her vacation on a homey environment.

Oh well, time flies quickly and as soon as the New Year starts months will be passing by quickly too. So, I better be prepared for anything because my Sweetie can change her mind anytime soon too.

Baking is not one of my strong points. My husband says that is putting it lightly. I guess there was a recent teeny tiny incident that might have put my skills further under question than usual. I recently got a new stand mixer, and decided to whip up a batch of cupcakes for a party we were attending. Seems fairly easy, right? It actually went really well. My batter was perfect, they cooked perfectly, I cooled and iced them and we headed to our friend’s house. One little problem—seems that somewhere along the way I forgot to turn the oven off. In my defense, it is a lot of steps to make the perfect cupcake. Luckily, we were barely down the street before I realized I’d forgotten something and we turned around to grab it. Immediately when I stepped in the house, I smelled the gas and shut the oven off. I’m so thankful that I did, as I have a dog and a cat who probably don’t want to breathe in noxious gas fumes. The good news, though, is that we also have an ADT long beach alarm, so once the sensor detected the carbon monoxide, an alarm would have sounded and the proper authorities would have been called. In the end it probably wouldn’t have been a disaster, but I will be staying away from baking for a while. Just in case.

When I opened up my garage I didn’t have any business experience and I wasn’t sure how good I was going to be at it. I’ve been learning slowly and making mistakes every day but there’s no way anyone could know about some of the hardships I was going to deal with without actually going through it themselves. For example, I had a hard time finding some way to accept credit cards and my customers just weren’t able to pay me cash for the things I was doing to their cars. A friend finally told me about BANK-CARD-PROCESSING.com which has really helped but things like that are the things you learn when you’re on your own and trying to run a business. There are tons more lessons for me to learn but it won’t take long at this rate – each day brings some kind of new challenge but so far I feel like I’ve really been holding my own when it comes to being a small business owner with a good head on his shoulders.

One weekend of summer 2010, my Sweetie and I spent another weekend at Byron. I was finally able to convince my Sweetie to go camping in the campsite instead in the hotel which we usually ended up every time we planned to go camping.

It was indeed a huge step for her to finally agree to sleep in the tent.

Last weekend my boy finally agreed to go camping with us. I was indeed thrilled because last year he had a huge fit and I wasn't able to make him change his mind no matter how hard I tried.

Last weekend we spent quality time at the camp. We went fishing. We went gold panning. We watched movie inside the tent. It was simply awesome.

Last weekend I was able to do what I love doing during this time of the year - gold panning. And my sweetie and my boy did a great job in making that weekend awesome, despite the fact that I didn't get a huge nugget.

Better luck next weekend.

It's Gold Panning Season Again

It's summertime again and I am hoping that I will be able to do gold panning with my Sweetie and my son this year. You see, they bailed out on me last year.

Sweetie took a weekend job. I was guessing she took that job to have an excuse not to go with me.

But this year, I was able to convince her to go with me without any argument. She was awesome. Now, I need to convince my son to go with us. And that will take some bribing. lol
